Each year, our entire school comes together to celebrate Matariki, a time of renewal and celebration in New Zealand. Our festivities include a range of engaging activities and a special liturgy, fostering a sense of community and cultural appreciation among students, staff, and whānau.
Each year, our entire school community comes together to commemorate ANZAC Day with heartfelt activities and a meaningful liturgy. This special day begins with a school-wide ceremony that honors the bravery and sacrifice of the ANZAC soldiers. Students participate in a variety of engaging activities designed to educate and reflect on the significance of this historic event.
Every year on March 19th, our entire school community comes together to celebrate St Joseph's Day, honoring our patron saint. This special day is filled with a variety of engaging activities that bring students, staff, and whānau together in joyful celebration. We begin with a meaningful liturgy, reflecting on the virtues and life of St Joseph, followed by fun and educational activities designed to inspire and foster a sense of community. This tradition is a highlight of our school year, reinforcing our shared values as a school.
Each year, our school looks forward to Swimming Sports Day, a fun event for students, staff, and whānau. The day is packed with exciting races and water activities for all skill levels, so everyone can join in and have a great time. Beyond the races, the event builds teamwork and school spirit. Swimming Sports Day is a special highlight of our school year, creating lasting memories for everyone.
Each year we have a school cross country that promotes fun and participation with an element of competition. We have a colour run in which powdered paint is thrown on students as they run past creating a colourful and fun event. This is held at our school using our fields and surrounding streets and areas. Students are selected to attend Interschool and Taranaki cross country from this event.
Every year we organise a school triathlon. This has been created for fun and participation. The students are able to enter individual or team triathlons and there is also an aquathon and duathon. It is a small modified course incorporating our school pool, fields and surrounding areas. Students are able to enter into the Weetbix tryathlon with support from our school.
Yearly in November the whole school attends the Catholic Athletics in Inglewood. The juniors (Year 0-2) take part in activities organised by Kelly Sports. Our Year 3-8 students take part in rotations of sprints, discus, shot put, high jump, long jump and javelin. This year in 2024 we have received funding to have Kelly Sports come in for term 3 for weekly lessons developing our athletics skills.
